    Course Facilitator Biographies

Dr. Robert G. Franklin, Jr. is an Associate Professor of Psychology, where he teaches courses in biological psychology, the history of psychology and science, and statistics. His research interests involve how the environment relates to stress and anxiety, integrating individuals with disabilities into workplaces, and how people think about numbers. Prior to coming to Anderson, he worked as part of a National Institutes of Health training grant at Brandeis University studying how aging impacted social interactions and nonverbal behavior.

Dr. Patty Slaughter was born in Asmara, Ethiopia, where her parents were teachers in the Peace Corps. Her parents were both lifelong educators, and in high school, Dr. Slaughter promised herself she was “never going to be a teacher.”  The promise wasn’t kept - she has been teaching in higher education for over 20 years and is starting her 11th year teaching at Anderson University. She is also a licensed psychologist (in NY and NC) and has worked in several practice settings including - schools, churches, skilled nursing facilities, community mental health centers, and private practice. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and spending time with her husband, Dane, and two daughters, Jadyn and Kaelyn.
